website hosting
Publish your site
Publishing copies your latest saved page content to Drop Cowboy’s hosting layer so visitors can load it at your site URL.
Draft vs live
- Draft — What you see in the Site Builder after saving. Not visible to the public.
- Live (published) — The version served at your subdomain (and custom domain, if connected).
Each publish creates a new live version of the page. You can continue editing drafts without affecting the live site until you publish again.
Publish a page
- Open Websites → your site → Pages.
- Edit the page in the Site Builder.
- Click Save to store your draft.
- Click Publish (or Publish site, depending on your view) when you are ready to go live.
Publishing may take a few seconds while the page is rendered and deployed. You will see a confirmation when it completes.
Preview before publishing
Use Preview from the page editor or open your draft preview link to check layout, links, and forms. Preview uses your draft content; it is not the same URL as your public site.
After publishing, open your live URL to confirm:
https://{site-slug}.sites.dc-websites.com
Replace {site-slug} with the slug shown in your website dashboard.
Update an existing live page
Make changes in the builder, save, and publish again. The new version replaces the previous live version for that page. There is no separate “unpublish” step for routine updates — publish the revised content when ready.
Multiple pages
Publish each page when its content is ready. You do not have to publish every page at once. Your home page is typically the first path visitors hit (/ on your subdomain).
Troubleshooting
| Issue | What to try |
|---|---|
| Live site shows old content | Publish again after saving; hard-refresh your browser (cache). |
| Publish button disabled | Save the page first; fix any validation errors shown in the editor. |
| Page not found at expected URL | Confirm the page slug/path in the dashboard matches the URL you are opening. |
Custom domains
Your subdomain works as soon as you publish. To use your own domain, complete DNS setup after attaching the domain in Drop Cowboy. See Connect a custom domain.
