Compliance check and number screening

Updated October 1, 2026

Drop Cowboy® can look up a phone number in litigator databases and in the Reassigned Numbers Database (RND) before you contact it. You can also connect your own screening accounts so their checks run on your sends. A result is information for your own decision, not legal clearance to contact someone.

Check numbers before you call

Use this to look up one number before you reach out.

  1. Open Settings in the left menu, then click Compliance Check.
  2. Under Litigator Check, type the Phone Number and click Check. The result shows Status:, Source: and Checked:.
  3. Under RND Check, type the Phone Number and the Consent Date, the day this person gave you consent. Click Check.

Each check uses account funds.

Result What it means Try this next
Clean The number wasn't found in the litigator databases checked. Confirm you have consent on file, as usual.
Litigator The number matches a known litigator record. Ask your legal counsel before you contact it. To block it, add it to your do-not-contact list.
Safe The database has no report of the number being reassigned since your consent date. This is a lookup result, not permission. Confirm your consent record for this person.
Reassigned The number went to someone new after your consent date. Your consent may belong to the previous owner. Update the contact's number, or add it to your do-not-contact list.
No Data The database has no record for this number. Check the number and the consent date, then try again.

You can also check from a contact. Open Contacts, click the contact, then the Consent tab. Litigator Status and RND Status each have a Check button. Not Checked means no lookup has run yet.

If it doesn't work:

  • "Insufficient balance. Please add funds to run checks." Add funds, then click Check again.
  • Check is greyed out. Type a phone number first. If the balance warning shows, add funds.
  • "Connect the RND integration to run RND checks." Click Go to Integrations and connect RND.
  • "Please enter a consent date." RND needs the date consent was given. Pick it, then click Check.
  • "Litigator check failed" or "RND check failed". Wait a minute and try again. For RND, look at the Token line on its card in Integrations.

Connect a screening service

Use this when you have your own RND, Black List Alliance (BLA) or WebRecon account and want its checks on your sends.

  1. Open Settings in the left menu, then click Litigator & Number Screening. This opens Integrations.
  2. Under Compliance & Safety, click the service you use.
  3. Enter your credentials from that service:
Service What you enter
RND (Reassigned Numbers) Company ID and Refresh Token. Find them in the RND portal under Welcome > API Credentials.
Black List Alliance (BLA) Your BLA API Key.
WebRecon Your WebRecon API Key.
  1. Click Connect. The card then shows Active for RND, or BYOK (your own key) for BLA and WebRecon.

What changes once a service is connected:

  • RND. Each send looks up the contact's number with their consent date, and skips numbers the database reports as reassigned.
  • BLA and WebRecon. Litigator checks run on your own account, and sends skip numbers that come back as Litigator.
  • Trestle. If you use the Trestle card under Contact Data, check Include Trestle Litigator Checks on it. Its litigator hits are honored the same way.

To stop using a service, open its card in Integrations and click Disconnect.

Choose when litigator results are saved

Litigator Scrub in Dialer Settings decides when litigator results are stored on your contacts and in campaign exports. It works without a BLA or WebRecon key of your own. Per-lookup fees apply.

  1. Open Settings in the left menu, then click Dialer Settings.
  2. Under Litigator Scrub, pick Always (on import + before sending), Before Sending Only or Off.
  3. To look up one number now, click Run One-Off Check. It opens Compliance Check.

Other dialer rules are on Set dialer rules.

If it doesn't work:

  • Connect fails. Copy the key or token again in full, with no spaces before or after it, then click Connect.
  • The Token line on the RND card shows a problem. Click Disconnect, then connect again with a new Refresh Token from the RND portal.
  • A contact you expected to reach was skipped. Open the contact's Consent tab. A Litigator or Reassigned status explains it.

If you don't see Compliance Check or Litigator & Number Screening, or can't change Litigator Scrub, ask your account owner for access.
