Register an SMS campaign

After your business is registered, use the Trust Center SMS wizard to describe how and why you will text people. A campaign registration should accurately match the messages, audience, and consent flow you will use.

Choose the right use case

Select the use case that most closely matches the messages you will send. Examples include account notifications, customer care, appointment reminders, marketing, charity, political, or other supported categories. Do not select a category just because it may seem easier to approve.

If you send messages for more than one materially different purpose, create a separate registration for each purpose.

Describe your messaging program

The wizard asks for:

  • The type of messages you send
  • Expected message frequency
  • The product, service, or purpose of the messages
  • A clear call-to-action that tells people why they would receive a text

Use plain, specific language. For example, describe appointment reminders for a clinic or order updates for an online store rather than generic “customer messages.”

Document opt-in

Explain how a person agrees to receive messages and where they see the consent language. The registration must match the experience people actually receive. Include the location, such as a website, checkout page, office, event, or phone flow, when applicable.

Your process should clearly communicate the messaging program. Follow the consent, disclosure, and recordkeeping rules that apply to your organization. This guide is not legal advice.

Add representative sample messages

Provide realistic examples of the messages you plan to send. The sample should match the selected use case, purpose, and frequency. Drop Cowboy displays the required STOP and HELP disclosure with each sample message; do not rely on a sample that omits opt-out instructions.

Review the complete message before submitting it. Avoid placeholders, vague descriptions, misleading claims, or content that does not match your actual program.

Submit and monitor status

Review every field for accuracy, submit the campaign registration, and monitor the status in Trust Center. A submitted application can be reviewed by registries, carriers, or their partners. Approval and delivery are not guaranteed.
